POSTPONED – Bach’s Lunch: “The Clown” in Concert

April 4 @ 12:10 pm - 12:50 pm

DUE TO THE ANTICIPATED BAD WEATHER ON APRIL 4, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO A DATE TBD.

Recorded in 1957, Charles Mingus’ “The Clown” is an album that explores form, narrative, and texture in the jazz quintet format. Featuring a narrator, free improvisation, and through-composed pieces, this album was ahead of its time during a period of great stylistic change.

In 2019, trombonist Josh Gagnon transcribed this music for study and performance, and is thrilled to be bringing this music to the Concord Community Music School.

The band:
Fall Raye – saxophones
Josh Gagnon – trombone
George Maclaurin – piano
Louis Stringer – bass
Andre Sudol – drums

All Bach’s lunch events are free and open to the public, thanks in part to the generosity of the Walker Fund. (And yes, people really DO bring their lunches to enjoy while listening…)
