Instant Folk Ensemble with Liz and Dan Faiella
Thursday, August 28, 5:30-7:30 PM. Fall and spring sessions TBA!
Open to intermediate musicians, ages teen through adult. All folk instruments are welcome.
Join forces with musical friends and form a pop-up folk ensemble! During this two-hour workshop, the group will be introduced to a traditional folk tune, and by the end play an arrangement of it together. After being introduced to the tune together, we’ll split into two groups, with Liz teaching the melody by ear and Dan coaching the backup section, to learn the tune and workshop the chords and rhythm. Then we’ll come back together and work as a team, along with both faculty leaders, to come up with an arrangement of the tune and enjoy playing it as a group. Whether or not you’ve never played folk music or participated in an ensemble before, we hope you’ll join the band!
