Bach's Lunch Lecture: “For Dancing is the Soul's Delight: Shaker Marches, Dances, and Motioning Songs.”
Speaker: Mary Ann Haagen
In this Bach's Lunch Lecture, Mary Ann Haagen, a singer and scholar of Shaker arts from Enfield, NH, will explore the Shakers’ use of movement to generate and sustain spiritual energy in worship. Learn about how the Shakers’ dance tradition connects to songs that describe the spiritual work accomplished through dance, and that articulate the ways in which physical movement propels Believers forward in their faith journey.
Thursday, December 6, 12:10 to 12:50pm.
Free and open to the public.
