Summer Jam Camp
For students entering grades 5-12 in the fall of 2021
Week of July 19 - 23, 2021
Open to students in grades 5-12 (including students that would like to bring their existing band), this camp invites instrumentalists and singers to come together for a week of jamming in music of many styles, including jazz, rock, and blues. There will be jam bands for both beginning and advanced students. Participants will develop ensemble skills, increase proficiency and technique on their instrument/voice, work in the recording studio and create an album of their projects at the end of the week together.
Creative Arts Camp
For students entering grades 1-6 in the fall of 2021
Week of July 26-30 and August 2-6, 2021
Creative Arts Camp 2021 is designed especially for summer 2021, to encourage social-emotional learning through the arts after a year of hibernation. Dark and mysterious pieces are welcome alongside the bright and bold ones. Guided by our two week-long themes, activities will enable each individual camper to contribute their unique gifts of artistic expression in a safe and creative environment.
Week One: Myself We will focus on the inner soul and unique person, or simply put, “me.” Campers will create “self-portraits” through songs, movement pieces, and visual art, helping them to self-reflect and express who they are. In appreciating our fellow campers’ individual artistic creations, we will celebrate as a community our similarities and differences.
Week Two: My Community We will build a connected, creative camp community through song, dance, and visual art. What can we do in our small world to create ripple effects in the big world? Campers have had a year of isolation and this week we will focus on how to feel safe in our community.
Having Fun and Learning Skills: Three age-based cohorts (grades 1-2; 3-4; and 5-6) rotate through three arts activity periods, learning skills and creating musical, dance, and visual art pieces. A healthy dose of indoor and outdoor games, breaks, and lunchtime provides plenty of fun and creates strong friendships.
