SUMMARY:Bach's Lunch: Good People All: A Celtic Christmas (Liz & Dan Faiella)
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n \n  \nAs Christmastide draws near\, enjoy music for the season with a Celtic spin\, performed by Liz Faiella\, fiddle and vocals and Dan Faiella\, guitar. Liz & Dan will draw on repertoire from their new Christmas album\, Good People All\, to bring you everything from a fiddler’s take on medieval chant\, to fingerstyle guitar arrangements of carols\, to favorite Christmas folk songs. CDs and digital downloads of the album will be available for purchase at the concert\, as well as winter landscape paintings by Dan Faiella for the art lover on your gift list! \nLiz Faiella’s study of Celtic fiddling\, training in classical violin\, and love of social dancing have shaped her musical approach. Alongside her brother\, guitarist Dan Faiella\, she has taken the stage at premier folk venues throughout New England\, including Club Passim\, the Acadia Trad Festival\, Maine Celtic Celebration\, Little Sea Folk Festival\, and the Boston Celtic Music Festival. An experienced teacher\, she has shared her craft with students at camps\, festivals\, and community music schools. Liz is chair of the Folk Department at the Concord Community Music School in Concord\, NH\, where she teaches fiddle students\, coaches the Celtic Fiddle Ensemble\, and organizes the School’s annual Fall Fiddle Festival. She also is active as a YouTube and Patreon creator\, teaching fiddle tunes and techniques far and wide. \nDan Faiella is a guitarist specializing in traditional Celtic music. Trained as an accompanist through years of playing for New England contradances and for Irish fiddlers\, he has performed at venues and festivals around the country with numerous traditional music groups. In his solo playing\, Dan’s fingerstyle arrangements of traditional songs and tunes draw extensively on techniques and ornamentation from traditional idioms beyond those directly related to the guitar\, such as Celtic harp-playing\, sean-nós singing\, and uilleann piping. Over many years of playing solo and collaboratively\, he has developed an ability to adapt and synthesize these sounds into the context of the unique arrangement capabilities of the guitar. \nBach’s Lunches are free and open to the public. They are made possible in part through the generosity of the Walker Fund.

SUMMARY:Purple Finches Dec 2025 Winter Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a winter concert by our Purple Finches Youth Chorus. This group is led by Maria Isaak and will be accompanied tonight by pianist Kathy Southworth. \nThe ensemble is composed of three divisions to allow for an age-appropriate sequence of musical development. Participants learn basic music elements through high quality literature such as rhythm\, solfège\, ear-training\, memory development\, hand signs\, and proper singing technique based on Kodály methods. For children also learning an instrument\, it strengthens sight-reading\, ear-training\, and rhythmic security. For others\, it’s an excellent introduction to music. And for all\, it’s a rich experience of creativity and self-expression. \nThis event is free of charge and open to the public. Donations are appreciated. \nLearn more about the Purple Finches at ccmusicschool.org/purple-finches-youth-chorus/

SUMMARY:Bach's Lunch: Zefira Trio
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n \nZefira Trio comprises violinist (and CCMS faculty member) Olga Patramanska-Bell\, cellist Ashima Scripp\, and pianist Eleanor Perrone. \nThe program features a dynamic mix of expressive chamber works: \n\nTrio on Irish Folk Tunes   (Frank Martin; 1899-1974)\n\n\nThree Nocturnes   (Ernest Bloch; 1880-1959)\n\n\nPiano Trio in c minor\, Op. 101  (Johannes Brahms; 1833-1897)\n\nThe members of Zefíra have established themselves as solo artists and chamber musicians of the highest standard. They are top prize winners of many national and international competitions and appear often as soloists with orchestras or in major recital halls across the country. This commitment to excellence is the foundation of their collaboration — to combine the instrumental mastery of the soloist into the ‘many-become-one’ that defines great chamber music playing\, and is achieved only by long-term association and mutuality in joint performance. \nThis event will be held in our Recital Hall. It is free of charge and open to the public\, thanks to the generosity of the Walker Fund. Donations are appreciated.

SUMMARY:Bach's Lunch: Rivers of Time (The Family Hodes with Kent Allyn)
DESCRIPTION:  \nAs “The Family Hodes”\, Kittery Point artists Peggo and Paul Hodes return for their annual Valentine’s day show at CCMS\, joined by their long-time musical colleague\, Kent Allyn with special guests\, Ariana Hodes and The Longest Year! This year’s show celebrates the many faces of love over time. \nPeggo and Paul Hodes have been musical partners for going on four decades… With their multi- talented\, multi-instrumentalist collaborator Kent Allyn\, they have performed as a trio\, recording multiple albums and sharing beach bonfires for years. Following an award-winning run of albums for children and families as Peggosus\, Peggo and Paul teamed up with Kent to record a series of acoustic oriented albums\, “Patchwork Quilt\, A celebration of The American Spirit”\, which earned them a trip to perform at the White House\, “Summer Nights” and the classic Holiday album\, “Winter’s Light”. They released Peggo’s solo Jazz record\, “In Love” on Parma’s Big Round Records imprint. Now\, as “The Family Hodes”\, with their singer-songwriting daughter\, Ariana Hodes\, the blend of Mother-Daughter Vocal DNA and family songwriting lend an inventive richness to their performances and recordings…always light-hearted and heartfelt featuring original and folk songs extolling the wonders of love. \nCincinnati based artists Ariana Hodes and Cassandra Bailey-Langjahr are best friends who met bartending in Nashville TN\, in 2017. With their different journeys and backgrounds in music they weren’t sure if their styles would work together\, but knowing they needed to get out of restaurant life they decided to give co-writing a try. Because that’s the Nashville way. Their first co-write resulted in nothing less than magic\, the blend of their voices nothing short of astonishing. They decided to play out as a duo\, and pop-folk band Ariana Hodes & The Longest Year was born. They hit the road in 2019 touring in Ohio\, Michigan\, Wisconsin\, Minnesota\, Nebraska and Kentucky. \nBetween Covid and grad school\, they’ve managed to record and release their first EP. They are now successfully crowdfunding for a studio album of brand new songs to be released in Spring 2026. Wherever they play\, the quality of their close harmonies never fail to impress\, the catchiness of their hooks get audiences humming and wanting more. It’s a guaranteed good-time hang where everybody makes new friends\, and leaves with a little bit more hope for the world. \nThis annual “Valentine’s Day” show has become a tradition to lift your spirits and make your heart sing in the depths of winter.  It will be held in our historic Recital Hall. It is free of charge and open to the public\, thanks in part to the generosity of the Walker Fund. Donations are appreciated.

SUMMARY:Bach's Lunch: History of the Slide Guitar
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nFrom the dusty porches of the rural South to the world’s biggest stages\, slide guitar has shaped the sound of blues\, rock\, and beyond. In this immersive clinic\, CCMS faculty Jarred Garneau traces the powerful lineage of slide guitar from its roots to the modern masters. \nWe’ll begin with the pre–World War II pioneers who defined the foundation of slide guitar\, exploring the raw\, emotional playing of artists like Robert Johnson\, Tampa Red\, and Son House. From there\, we’ll dive into the electrified revolution led by Elmore James\, whose fiery tone and signature riffs reshaped the blues forever. \nThe journey continues into the rock era with Duane Allman\, whose lyrical slide work brought the instrument into stadiums and redefined its expressive potential. Finally\, we’ll explore the modern voice of slide through Derek Trucks\, examining how tradition\, soul\, and technical mastery merge into a truly contemporary sound. \nThrough listening examples\, demonstrations\, and historical insight\, this clinic offers a deep dive into the evolution\, techniques\, and spirit of slide guitar across generations. \nThis event will be held in our historic Recital Hall. It is free of charge and open to the public\, thanks in part to the generosity of the Walker Fund. Donations are appreciated.
