For 30 years, our musical community has been enriched by the kindness of friends who have generously contributed to our mission of artistic excellence and access for all. Contributed income makes up 45% of the Music School's $1.9 million annual operating budget. We deeply appreciate every gift we receive, whether it is monetary or in-kind; from a business, foundation, government agency or an individual; designated for a special program, campaign or the Annual Fund.
Core Mission - The mission of Concord Community Music School is to foster a sense of community through music by providing the fullest possible array of musical experiences for people of all ages, musical abilities and backgrounds. Contributions in support of the core mission provide the flexibility to respond to the greatest need while sustaining our long-term programs, including community partnerships, financial aid and free concerts. (FY14 Goal: $300,000)
Music in the Community Initiative (MICI), now in its 13th year, provides programs in partnership with public schools, human service agencies, housing authorities, retirement communities and preschools. This year, we served more than 1,500 participants in 800 sessions, representing more than 12,500 individual learning experiences at partnership sites across the state. (FY14 Goal: $100,000)
Financial aid and scholarships provide need-based assistance and merit scholarships for lessons, classes and ensembles. This year, the financial aid fund of $100,000 supported 146 students from 29 towns. (FY14 Goal: $100,000)
Concerts and special events take many shapes and attract a wonderfully diverse audience. In addition to our series of concerts by faculty and guest artists, featuring some of New England's finest folk, jazz and classical musicians, we also produce more than 80 student recitals. Last year, there were more than 200 public events, many with free admission, reaching 33,000 audience members. (FY14 Goal: $45,000)
