Summer Music and Movement
Tuesdays (June 6 - July 11)
Drums and Fun (18 months-5 years) 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
Children will walk into a room of drums and have a chance to try out their different sounds. Songs with strong rhythms and marching moments will occur in class. The second half of each class will include a dance party time. Children will be able to express their dance moves and try other children’s dance moves. Each class will end with a story and meditation time.
Sing, Dance, & Play (5 mo-2 years) 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. CANCELLED
This beginning music and movement class opens young ears to the sounds of instruments and fun summer songs. There will be a dance time to encourage developmental movement and add to movement vocabulary. Children will move with a variety of props such as balls, bubbles, scarves, and shakers as they express themselves through song. This class will conclude with a story.
Yoga and Art (3-7 years) 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. NEW TIME!
Come with a mat and do 20 minutes of yoga with your child to inspire some drawing and painting. Once we have relaxed our bodies and stretched them in our animal yoga poses, we will have 25 minutes to draw or paint as a reflection time to our morning. The class will end with a story.
Creative Movement (4-8 years) 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. CANCELLED
This class will teach children basic dance elements through creative exploration, using props, various movements and music. Children will learn concepts such as space, weight and time as they move and dance with scarves, stretchy bands, a parachute or other props.
Yoga and Baby (Parent and baby 4 mo-18 months) 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. CANCELLED
This class is designed to give parents a chance to stretch, balance, and move while still caring for their child. Each yoga movement will include moments to bond with your child while practicing yoga. For example, parents will lift the baby above their head and down as the (weight) or do a plank pose over the top of baby, creating a fun and warm atmosphere for both parent and child.
